We present a derivation and calibration of disk unit models. The main objectives of this presentation are to analyze the numerical accuracy of various disk models using a set of modern high-performance disks, and to propose a new seek time model that outperforms existing models.

Jozo Dujmovic is Professor of Computer Science and Chairman of Computer Science Department at San Francisco State University. His teaching and research activities are in the areas of computer performance evaluation and software metrics. He is the author of more than 100 publications and a Senior Member of IEEE.

Daniel Tomasevich as a Lecturer of Computer Science at San Francisco State University. His teaching activities are in the area of operating systems, and his research is in the area of computer performance modeling. Daniel received his MS in Computer Science from SFSU.
