Dr. Mike Ritter is CTO of MetroFi and is responsible for managing and coordinating all corporate technology-related decisions as well as issues relating to strategic partner requirements. Prior to joining MetroFi, Mike was CTO at Mobility Network Systems where he built and designed systems that allow GSM operators to deploy WiFi hotspots transparently into their existing systems. Customers included Rogers ATT Canada and GoMobile Malta.
Dr. Ritter was also CTO of Metricom and was responsible for architecting and developing Metricom's wireless network and infrastructure that was deployed nationwide and sold as the "Ricochet" wireless Internet service. He holds multiple patents with several more pending as a result of this work.
Prior to joining Metricom, Dr. Ritter held the position of Manager of Open Systems Development at Apple Computer responsible for MacTCP, and earlier was a manager at Sun Microsystems and shipped TOPS, the largest selling network software at the time. Dr. Ritter also held various consulting and research positions at Lockheed Space and Missiles Co., Stanford University, Lawrence Livermore Laboratories, and was a visiting staff member at Los Alamos National Laboratories.
He received his BS in physics from Stanford and an MS, MA, and Ph.D. in physics from Yale. He is a member of IEEE and ACM.
