The Web Based Event Generator is an automated web-based application capable of selecting network devices and setting alarms/traps on the selected devices using the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). The application has the ability to categorize different events and devices according to Cisco specification in order to test their Network Management Systems. This product was the brainchild of Network Management Technical Group (NMTG) at Cisco Systems. It was designed and implemented by a team under the leadership and guidance of Paul Nguyen and Viren Desai. The implementation team also included Munawwar Peshimam and me, graduate students from San Francisco State University. We worked with the engineers at Cisco Systems to further develop the concept for the event generator application. This report focuses on the design and implementation of several features in the application that were designed and implemented by me. These features include: User Registration/Login Interfaces, Home/Application Page, Event Page, and Cisco SNMP Java Package (Implemented /modified the SNMP package in collaboration with Cisco Engineers).
