Abstract: 

Guest-DJ is a web application designed and implemented to solve one of the common problems shared among new or experienced DJs - knowing what the audiences want to hear and what contents to deliver to please the crowd. To stay atop of music trends and pop cultures isn’t enough to figure out what would be on demand at a particular event. DJs also need to consider the audiences’ demographic, which added another dimension to this complex equation. Even experienced professional DJs have trouble from time to time, not to mention the stress many amateur or entry level DJs have to endure during the event. One mistake could easily turn off the crowd and ruin their reputation. To fulfill this necessity of gathering information from live audiences, we need mechanisms for DJs to publish available song selections, and a tally system to capture and summarize responses once audiences have made their requests. Guest-DJ was designed with these primary objectives in mind, so DJs can focus on their performance. Also, Guest-DJ is an open source application published on GitHub, where other interested developers and contributors can collaborate so that the application will continue to grow and improve.
