Abstract:

Processing motion capture data for animations can be expensive, time consuming, and inaccessible for artists and researchers who may want to utilize motion capture data for academic projects. This work provides a method to reduce the effort of using freely available motion capture data for use in animations. The method involves transforming three dimensional motion capture data from a time-series of 3D points to a skeleton hierarchy that can be used to control a 3D character mesh.
