Claudio Fleiner Transmeta

The presentation will introduce Transmeta's Crusoe chip family, code morphing software, and the integration of Picojava into the x86 version of Crusoe to produce a dual instruction set chip.

Claudio Fleiner, a Software Engineer with Transmeta, joined the company in 1999. Fleiner was offered a scholarship from the Swiss National Foundation to work at the International Computer Science Institute, where he completed his PhD thesis. In 1996, Fleiner returned briefly to Switzerland to join IBM Research in Zurich before transferring back to California to the IBM Almaden Research Center in 1998. Fleiner now works on exploratory projects at Transmeta, such as his current interest, the implementation of a second instruction set (picojava) into the current Transmeta processor.
