The SNFCHerps application is a user friendly application designed primarily for scientists/biologists in the Sierra Nevada Field Campus of San Francisco State University. Biologists make observations in the field of herps (reptiles and amphibians) observed in this region of the Sierra Nevada. Since pen and paper based observation methods are cumbersome to use, the SNFCHerps application was developed for mobile devices with Android OS. It provides a graphical user interface to record the date, time, location and optionally a photo of the observed herp. Observations made using this application can be shared via Email, Facebook and Twitter. A usability study was conducted on this application with approximately 17 students. The overall response of the survey was positive and confirmed that the application was easy to install and use. The SNFCHerps application can be downloaded and used on any Android device version 2.2 or later and is published on Google Play under a GPU Open Source License.
