The instructor log tool for data collection in SFSU SETAP (Software Engineering Assessment and Prediction) project is the web application we developed to help users collect instructor's logs for the SETAP data. This log captures information about team's effectiveness, team lead's effectiveness, any issue, checkpoints, team attendance, and is currently being done using paper causing inefficiency, possible loss of data and time consuming process to transfer the data form paper into the database. Our application enables the user to make online form entries rather then paper based entry, and in addition allows exporting and printing of the instructor logs form within the application and sending e-mail to the team lead for the checkpoint. It also automatically stores the data in SETAP database for further analysis. This application runs on iPad allowing easier collection of data in the class. The application provides a user-friendly graphical interface to record the instructor's log and also exporting or printing them. We have designed, implemented and tested this application using modern Agile software engineering processes and performed a usability study using focus group meetings with instructors to design the user interface and verify its ease of use. This project is planned to be used for instructor's log data collection for SETAP project.
