The aim of this project is to develop Drawing and Document Annotation module for OpenMRS - an open-source electronic medical records management system. The motivation for the project is the legacy drawing module which features basic tools to draw and annotate the drawing and link them to the patient's medical records within OpenMRS. By providing better drawing and annotation tools with workflow as per the current version of OpenMRS, the project is an improvement to the legacy drawing module. Being a primary and most used part of the module, the drawing editor facilitates providers to draw and record the findings effectively. A simple scenario can be, a radiologist recording the finding by creating notes for an X-ray by sketching and adding annotations over it or embedding medias directly in the X-ray. The project needed a detailed understanding of the OpenMRS data model, architecture and services along with SVG standards. The module also features a service API for other modules to integrate with Drawing and Document Annotation module.
