Computer science professor Dragutin Petkovic, alongside philosophy professor Carlos Montemayor and business management professor Denise Kleinrichert, were voted best presentation during their session at the 2023 Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) Symposium. During their segment they gave a seminar for the Graduate Certificate in Ethical Artificial Intelligence program at SFSU. These specialists collaborated in developing the Ethical AI Certificate course available to graduate students and professionals. Participants are required to examine the basic principles of AI-technologies and understand how to balance ethical and legal procedures with business needs and decision-making, they will then produce a research and reflection paper under the guidance of a certificate mentor. The certificate was produced to aid in making sure the technology of tomorrow remains a tool for humanity with minimal errors, biases and issues in technical and judicial transparency as AI quickly expands into health care, business and day-to-day life.
